Its technical name is PMU (Permanent Make-Up), but everyone knows it as semi-permanent make-up. It is a micropigmentation technique that involves introducing bio-absorbable pigments into the superficial layer of the skin to define and harmonize eyebrows, eyes, and lips.
It has become an increasingly popular choice for those who want to enhance their face with a natural and long-lasting effect, without the need for daily touch-ups. Unlike traditional tattoos, PMU is less invasive, is not permanent, and gradually fades over time.
It can be used on eyebrows (with a dermograph for a more shaded effect or microblading for a more defined look); eyes (infralash or eyeliner) for a more intense and magnetic gaze, and lips to correct color, redefine the contour, or even create a plumping effect.
The result in our studios is extremely natural! A realistic effect that doesn't distort features, suitable for all ages and skin types, perfect for those with a dynamic lifestyle who want to say goodbye to daily makeup!
Let's clarify:
- What is the difference between PMU and tattooing?
PMU uses bio-absorbable pigments that gradually lighten over time, while traditional tattooing uses permanent inks that penetrate deeper into the skin and tend to shift in color.
- Is it painful?
The treatment may cause slight discomfort but is not painful. We apply an anesthetic cream to ensure maximum comfort.
- How long until I see the final result?
The initial result is visible immediately, but the color will settle in the following weeks. The final result is permanent after about 4-6 weeks, after complete healing.
- How long after can I have a touch-up?
The first touch-up is recommended between 4 and 6 weeks after the initial session. Subsequently, to maintain the result, a touch-up every 12-18 months is recommended.
- What if I don't get a touch-up?
If you don't get a touch-up, the pigment will gradually fade and may lighten unevenly.
- Can I remove PMU if I don't like it?
There are removal techniques with laser or specific treatments, but it is always best to rely on an expert to avoid unwanted results from the start.
How to prepare for the treatment: before and after
How should I prepare for the treatment?
Avoid sun and UV lamps for 7 days prior.
Do not consume alcohol, coffee, or anticoagulant medications for 24 hours prior.
Do not undergo aggressive treatments on the area to be pigmented (e.g., peeling, laser).
What are the post-treatment care instructions?
Do not wet the treated area for the first few days.
Do not touch or scratch scabs.
Apply the recommended soothing cream.
Avoid makeup, sun, sauna, and swimming pool for at least 7-10 days.
Semi-permanent makeup remains the ideal choice for those who wish to enhance their natural beauty without the need for daily makeup.
